9 Ways To Romanticize Fall

The fall season has grown to become one of my favorite seasons. Nature winds down after an exhausting summer and the air gets a calmer and more snuggling feeling.

However, for most people especially students, it is the season when all the school and work starts again and the beauty of the season fades into the background.

Therefore I made a pact with myself to enjoy the seasons more and all they have to offer by romanticizing them.

Yes, it gets colder and as a summer girl myself it also impacts my mental well-being but it’s such a beautiful thing if you look closer.

Here are a few ways to romanticize this season:

1. Sweaters and Tea

Wearing big sweaters and snuggling up in them while making yourself a hot cup of tea to warm your fingers on after a chilly commute home from work or after going on a walk has quite a comforting and calming effect and helps me wind down.

2. Baking

When I’m baking my mind is blank and I fully concentrate on the task at hand. It is my go-to activity when I need to clear my head.

Cinnamon itself reminds me of fall and tastes great not only in pastries but in a cup of hot coffee as well.

3. Watching fall-themed films and horror movies

As it gets colder, hiding under a blanket while watching Gilmore Girls or a horror movie is a great way to romanticize fall, especially if the movies you’re watching are doing it for you.

Some other great examples of movies I like to watch or rewatch this season are:

Twilight, Little Women, Pride and Prejudice, Harry Potter, When Harry Met Sally, Dead Poet Society, Knives Out.

4. Autumn Walks and Reading

Similar to film, a good book is a comforting activity as well. This season, books that fall under the dark academia spectrum are a great read.

Another great way to clear one’s head are walks in the autumn air where you can admire the leaves turn into beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red.

5. Pumpkin Spice

Many people live for everything pumpkin-spiced, but I am not a fan of pumpkins. However, I still think it deserves a place on this list and I will try the famous pumpkin spice latte once.

6. Candles

Nothing feels more calming than a light coming from your candle lighting your room and its scent filling up the room.

Even though I think candles are an all-year thing they feel different as soon as it gets colder and darker. And who doesn’t love candle shopping?! Well yes, my bank account.

7. Writing poetry or journaling to classical or slower music

As the air gets colder I tend to focus my energy more inward and therefore my emotions get more attention and sometimes loneliness overcomes me.

Getting it all on paper and sitting in my emotions helps me deal with them and I feel great afterward.

If you’re having trouble with journaling, searching for journal prompts is a great option.

8. Fall Fashion

Personally, fall fashion is my favorite type of fashion, the layers, the sweaters, the creativity, the everything.

Making a fall fashion Pinterest board to visualize how you want to dress this season is an excellent way to romanticize fall.

9. Halloween

Last but not least, Halloween. The event of the season. Who doesn’t love Halloween? Do I need to say more?!

By the way, Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration for your next costume.
